Bylaws Committee
Keeps the bylaws current and manages amendments.
MISSION
Keep the association's bylaws clear, current and compliant, and manage a fair process for amending them.
WHO SERVES
A chair and vice chair appointed by the president, plus one Army and one Air Guard member from each region or chapter. The president serves as an ex-officio member.
Core responsibilities
- Review the bylaws and recommend areas for amendment
- Review amendments proposed by members and present them for a vote at an annual or special conference
- Present a report at the annual conference

Ideas for an active committee
- Review the full bylaws every year, and fix conflicts or outdated language
- Publish the amendment deadline and a simple submission form
- Require each proposed amendment to show current text, proposed text and the reason for the change
- Check amendments against state non-profit law and your tax-exempt status
- Keep an amendment history at the front of the bylaws
- Post the current, approved version on your website
- Keep standing rules and SOPs consistent with the bylaws
